Gerrit has been involved in photography since he was a schoolboy in country NSW, writing and photographing for his school magazine.

On leaving school he studied photography in Canberra before working as a news photographer at the Canberra Times.

A passion for documentary photography led him to staff positions with the Sydney Morning Herald and later the Good Weekend Magazine.

Gerrit's clients include large Australian corporates, not-for-profits, design and architectural firms and advertising agencies, where he brings a great feel for people and an imaginative eye to a diverse array of projects.

In addition to a successful commercial career, Gerrit has maintained a personal interest in photography that has led to inclusion in the collections of the Australian National Gallery, Art Gallery of NSW, State Library of NSW, together with exhibitions at the Australian Centre for Photography, commercial galleries and inclusion in group exhibitions at the public galleries above.
